Are They the Same? Part Two

And to piggyback on Frankie's earlier post ...

*** Except I'm definitely wrong in my guess, thanks to the fabulous memories of our followers! Either way, it's a cool similarity and a nifty cover story.

Recognize this girl from the cover of Cracked Up to Be?

There are some distinct differences, but nothing a little Photoshopping couldn't handle.

What's the verdict?

  1. I read somewhere that Cracked Up to Be is actually a photoshoot. So though it is similiar, it is not the same image.

  2. I must have read the same thing as Lenore. I think it was on Courtney Summers' blog, or maybe she guested on someone else's, but basically, they were originally going to use the same stock image, but there was some issue with the model or something, so they designed a photo shoot to replicate it, then ended up editing the photo shoot to make the colors better. I'll see if I can find the post!

  3. Found it! Here's the story. So you can see the picture was inspired by the image for Dirty Laundry (and Leap of Faith), but in the end they had to use a different one. Still a fascinating topic, though!

  4. I'd never thought much about covers before but I thought the two certainly looked the same. Although I've learned from the other posts that it isn't. Interesting topic.
I'm going to start paying more attention to covers.

    Thanks for the great post!
