Oh my GOSH I am freaking out. I can't wait until my copy gets here (I have a subscription). I think I'll wait to read the article until then, too... but needless to say I am totally psyched!
Haha, we just Facebooked this too. Isn't she AMAZING?! We were excited and hopeful, because she's a great actress, but we had NO IDEA she would look this good as Katniss!! Is it 2012 yet?
She looks completely different. I wasn't a hater on the casting before since I figure an Academy Award nominated actress may be a better choice than someone who exactly matches the physical description in the book. I also love EW's continuous support of the book & movie. I'm a longtime susbscriber and they are what pushed me over to read Hunger Games.
love this! thanks for pointing it out. All the buzz build up is so fun. I've never had doubts, I think good actors can morph into the role, regardless of hair colour or how they clean up!
She's a little hotter than I imagined Katniss but I dig it. I'm more interested in her talent (haven't seen Winter's Bone) and apparently Suzanne Collins is feeling good about it, so I trust her :-)
I like it, but something doesn't sit perfectly with me, and I think you nailed it, Melissa--the hotness factor. A little more than I imagined, too.
But overall, pretty good! It made me pull out my copy and read it again for an hour or so tonight--so so good. And, of course, on screen, it'll never be exactly what I envisioned while reading.
@Ashley @ Book Labyrinth - I freaked out when I saw it too! I don't have a subscription, so I think I'm buying the issue!
@Stephsco - She totally looks like Katniss now! It's amazing what some hair dye, a tan, and a badass expression will do to transform a person! Yay EW!
@Janine - I agree that she's hotter than I pictured Katniss, but she's supposed to be pretty attractive once they do a makeover for the Games. But they de-glammed her very well!
Everyone else, replies (ok, mostly squees of excitement) are via email!
I think she looks great, but it was the interview that sold me. The part where she said that after Katniss kills someone for the first time, she has to look more "broken" than "badass" I completely agreed with that and I'm glad she sees it that way.
Thanks so much for reading our blog, and we really appreciate you taking the time to comment! We read every one, and we try to respond to all of them via email/comment.

ReplyDeleteShe is a great Katniss! Almost exactly how I pictured her. I never really had a preference about who played her, but I think she’ll do fabulous!

THAT IS SO KATNISS. That's basically how I've pictured her these past gazillion years. LOVE this.
